How 'bout y'all?
Much love,

Texan to the bone and an unrepentant Daddy's Girl, BA Tortuga spends her days with her basset hounds and her beloved wife, texting her sisters, and eating Mexican food. When she's not doing that, she's writing. She spends her days off watching rodeo, knitting and surfing Pinterest in the name of research. BA's personal saviors include her wife, Julia Talbot, her best friend, Sean Michael, and coffee. Lots of coffee. Really good coffee.

I've been dreaming about dragons for a couple of days. Usually that means a book's coming down the pike, but dragons? Not really my thing.
I guess I'll just keep dreaming until someone shows up and tries to hi-jack another Word doc.
Do y'all have recurring dreams? Do they ever mean something?
Much love, y'all,
BA
I coughed.
For a week.
I coughed and watched bad TV and drank Sprite Zero.
That's it.
For the first time since last Friday, I'm upright and functional. Go me!
Next week?
Work. Lots of writing. :D
Maybe.
O.o
It's been a week since I started getting sick and I have a cough and this amazing, overwhelming exhaustion, but the fever is gone, the stuffiness is gone. I did a load of laundry this morning. ;-)
I think now, though, I'm going to go look at words. I tried to write yesterday and I had NOTHING, y'all. Just white noise. I couldn't even read. So I watched reality television (Project Runway) and goofed off.
Maybe today will be more normal.
Much love, y'all.

We goofed off.
We walked.
We got the flu.
We ate.
We shopped like fiends (new green Michael Kors purse of JOY!)
We hung out with Tory Temple.
We saw the Beatle's LOVE show (which OMG was stunningly good).
We saw Tim and Faith.
TIm.
Tim tim tim.
Tim.
Oh, y'all. He sounds so good. He looks amazing, but then he's been rocking the OMGSexGod thing for a while, but his voice is rocking. I can't wait to see him again in Houston. (And again in Beaumont, maybe...)
*sparkles*
Yeah.
It was good.
Hey y'all.
Went to Vegas, got the flu. Julia and I are sick as dogs.
*hugs tight*
Take care and much love.

Y'all Mr. Unlucky came out today. Go check it out. It's my new One Horse Town series and this is book one!!! I am so excited about this one and this series.
Cowboy Bodie might be unlucky in love, having lost not one but two fiancĂ©es in his life. When he meets Addie, though, he knows he’s found a special girl, and he thinks he might be willing to take one more chance with his wounded heart.
Addie has been in war-torn parts of the world and is on the rebound from a bad relationship. When she comes home to East Texas, all she wants is to relax and enjoy life for a bit. Then she sees Bodie, and she thinks he’s the hottest thing she’s ever cast her eyes on. She’s willing to put in the time and effort to convince Bodie that his luck has changed.
Between Bodie's past, Addie’s ex, and the meddling of an entire small town, Bodie and Addie have a lot to work through if they want to go from just friends with benefits to something more serious. Can Mr. Unlucky and Miss Good Times find a way to make it work?
Ricochet also came out today and it is a hot little number too y'all.
Holt is leaving his life in the city, ready to shed himself of the drama of his ex and get back to the simple life in Texas. His ex, Dave, disagrees with the idea. Violently. When Holt ends up injured and stranded, it’s his old friend, Teague, who comes to the rescue.
Teague has always regretted letting Holt slip away, and he’ll do whatever he needs to keep the man in his life now, even if that means enduring the agony of “just friends”. Will Holt ever realize how much Teague loves him, or will it be too late for both of them?

He leaned the seat back as far as he could, covered his face with his hat and tried to get more sleep before Adam got there. Lord knew, once his cowboy showed, there wasn’t gonna be more napping. Landon had ridden four bulls today. Four. Two re-rides, one eighty-six point long round ride, and one short go for a payout of just about twice the fees he’d paid in to the event.
Lord, Sister was going to shit a pink Twinkie of joy.

Man, I swear, y'all. It's been a week. My birthday was Wednesday and was perfect, but Saturday last I got into a huge dose of wheat and ended up viciously ill from Saturday night til about 8am Wednesday morning and I'm a little touchy, now. Thank all that is good in the universe for my naturopath. I called her in tears Monday, she had be a remedy ASAP, saw me today, hugged me and assured me that I was going to be okay. She also said to pay attention to the broken foot, that they take months and months to heal and that my body needs care and attention and love.
I think that's probably a smart thing -- care and attention and love, no matter what.
I was tickled as hell that bull riding is back. I do love my bullfighters and the riders and Julia and I spend hours watching and cheering and laughing. It's my favorite sport, 100%.
I have been reading this week. Finished the first Lone Star book (which I remembered fondly from the 80s) and a book about historical research. Now I'm reading a historical guide to weapons and clothing in the Old West and I'm damn near finished with "My Big Fat Supernatural Honeymoon", which I've adored. Of the whole anthology (and I'm on the last story), there was only one that made me go, 'eh'.
Next week I'm traveling Wednesday-Sunday, but I'll have my iPad with me. I'm going to try and finish Boy's Life and Odd Thomas while we're gone and get those off the TBR pile.
What are y'all reading right now?
Much love,
BA
Yesterday was an absolutely lovely day -- gingerbread pancakes, a neat spice grinder, a gift certificate for yarn, strawberries dipped in chocolate, flowers. I felt totally spoiled and am so grateful for all the emails, texts, tweets, and fb messages.
*is loved*
Thanks, y'all, for a perfect day. :D
Much love,
BA
So, Donna, ElaineG and PC -- give me a holler at batortuga at gmaildotcom and let me know what book you want. Thanks *so* much for spending the month with me.
Much love to all y'all!
BA
Hrm.
New year. New chance. New stuff.
Let's see...
I'm going to renew my 100 books read this year. It'll be my 5th year doing it, and it gives me a reason to read.
I'm shooting for 1,000,000 words written this year and 12 books pubbed this year. *winks*
I'm always working at de-commericalizing my diet and I'm going to try and take pre-made condiments out of the fridge this year.
Also, back to yoga. I miss it. It misses me. :D
I think that's it. Right? Is that enough? What did y'all resolve? Do you resolve?
*smooches*
Much love, y'all.
BA
“You’re all dirty now. What would your momma say?” Sage was damn near drunk on it, on that goofy smile.
“That I’d best wash up before I meet her for lunch tomorrow. Other than that, she wouldn’t care.” Adam’s shoulder rubbed against his. “Supper?”

Sage and Adam are from my WIP, Terms of Release.
Much love, y'all.

Mr. Unlucky -- which is coming out this month from Resplendence -- YAY! Is the story about Addie and Bodie, a Texas rancher and the cowgirl that picks him up in a club.
I do have a playlist for them, of course. Addie makes me happy and Bodie...he's a cowboy, balls to bones.
