Morning, y'all!
I'm tickled as punch to be part of Torquere Press' annual charity drive. You see, every year we (the authors) pick a charity and then we write a short story on a theme (this year's was leather). Our royalties are donated, and Torquere matches our donated.
Pretty cool, huh?
This year's charity is NOH8 and I wrote a little short about my cowboys, Beau and Sam. Sam was in a terrible bull riding accident and has a problem talking -- not thinking, speaking -- and his lover is getting tired of the silence.
I get that.
Silence gets us in trouble sometimes.
One of the reasons I write romance is that I believe in the happy ending. I also believe readers want that happy ending. We want to believe that love overcomes obstacles, that good intentions win over bad and that, at the end, hate loses.
It was election week and, lord y'all, the hate that was spewing around made my heart sick. People were scared and they were pissed off and they were ugly -- on both sides.
I voted (of course), then I hid my head in the romantic sand where two men can fall in love and have it be forever. Where two men can fall in love with each other and a woman and live happily ever after.
Where everybody deserves a happy ending.
If you'd like to donate to NOT8 by purchasing the charity sips, rock on. They're available on Torquere Books and Rainbow eBooks
Also, my personal happy ending, Julia Talbot, and I are giving away a Spurs and Shifters goodie bag to one of our commenters. :D

Happy endings r what u make it, mine most recent one isn't romantic, just spiritual. My older brother passed away about 6 yrs ago n for the longest time I blamed myself for my dad not seeing him one last time because that day my dad was picking me up from college. Well I kept mostly to myself about my guilt, I tattooed a blue bird on my back because my bro always called me bluebird, in its beak it has a lily representing my bro, my bird is carrying him to heaven. Well just afew days ago I was in my yard raking leaves n a bluebird flew down perching on one of my gnomes, stayed there for a good ten minutes. After it flew away I came inside n later on realized that that day was the anniversary of his death. I believe it was jerry telling me he was okay, I know it's corny but for right now that's my happy ending.
I love happy endings. Haven't had one for myself in... oh, longer than I want to think about, but I still believe they're out there. I'm working on happy little middles right now - like rescuing two kitties from the animal shelter earlier this week. That's a happy ending and a happy beginning all mixed up in one. :) For some reason your post made this movie quote pop in my head and I never miss an opportunity to post it. It keeps me going and reminds me that every silly little thing I can do to brighten someone's day is worth it. *hugs*
Sometimes, when we lose ourselves in fear and despair, in routine and constancy, in hopelessness and tragedy, we can thank God for Bavarian sugar cookies. And, fortunately, when there aren't any cookies, we can still find reassurance in a familiar hand on our skin, or a kind and loving gesture, or subtle encouragement, or a loving embrace, or an offer of comfort, not to mention hospital gurneys and nose plugs, an uneaten Danish, soft-spoken secrets, and Fender Stratocasters, and maybe the occasional piece of fiction. And we must remember that all these things, the nuances, the anomalies, the subtleties, which we assume only accessorize our days, are effective for a much larger and nobler cause. They are here to save our lives. I know the idea seems strange, but I also know that it just so happens to be true.

Still waiting for my 'Happy Ending'!!! Darn it!!!
I make my own happy endings! Everyone deserves one. I'm due for another one about now.
Yes, I could use a happy ending--but then, we all can!

Happy Endings - this so much. Everyone deserves to have a happy ending. I'm glad the election is over, there was so much hate on both sides it just made me sad.
And I love Button's quote, it's such a good one.
Leather is an awesome theme! I must go look for the rest of these! Please count me in. Thank you, chellebee66(at)gmail(dot)com
Hehe, I'm still waiting for my happy ending but right now, any romance is far away from what I want. My happy ending means finally completing what I want to work in and owning a house. LOL
;) still far away from romantic happy ending.
BUT I love reading about them. Makes me hopeful that I shall see my own romantic happy ending some day. XD

Heyla, lady! :) No need to enter me in the contest, but I just wanted to come by and check in. Thanks for your post for the hop! Like you, I avoided a lot of the crap around the election. The anit-gay, anti-woman and anti-minority crap being spouted turned my stomach. It would be nice to get back to the business of running the country, y'know?
I'm glad that when you stick your head in the sand, as you put it, you create such awesome and engrossing stories. We need more BA Tortuga stories!! ~sad puppy eyes~ Please? ~grin~
