Is it something y’all would be interested in?

Authors I Love: Stephen King

Okay, so yeah. You either love him or hate him, but Stephen King is probably my favorite storyteller of all time. I’ve read them all. I have an opinion on them all.

I have favorites.

I love It with a fiery burning passion of a zillion suns and The Stand is one of my favorite books ever. The Shining will forever be in my top ten. And then there are the short stories. I maintain that Mr. King is one of the greatest short story writers in history.

You don’t agree?

Read The Boogeyman. Or Gramma.

The Mangler.

*shivers happily*

Yeah. My favorite of all time, y’all.

:D

Much love,

Little More than Six Sentence Sunday -- Colts and Cowboys (WIP)

“Is he old as you, Daddy?”

“He’s older than PopPop, kiddo.”

“Uh-uh. Nobody’s older than PopPop.”

“Oh, yes. Mr. Dillmon down to the feed store? He’s old enough to be PopPop’s daddy.”

Grainger’s eyes went wide. “For real?”

Food, glorious food!

These are not giant puffballs. They are meringues. They are filled with chocolatey coffee goodness.

IMG 2092

My first try at Korean short ribs. They needed more acid, but were SO GOOD.

IMG 2082

Our first try at gluten free naan. OMG NO. No.

IMG 2074

Roasted homemade korma. This? Was totally a win. Completely.

IMG 2072

I have no clue what this is. I see sweet potatoes and kale and… chicken? Pork? Hell if I know...

IMG 1983

This is a layer salad. It tasted better than it looked.

Jade Lee and I have met in a shitload of elevators, believe it or not.

I mean, seriously, all over the country, if I’m at a con in an elevator, there’s at LEAST a fifty percent chance you’ll find Jade Lee.

I have two claims to fame when it comes to Jade. First? I did NOT fangirl all over her at first meeting along I have read all her books and I adore her. I was polite, friendly and I didn’t even burst into tears. Not once.

That’s right. I’m a stud.

Second?

Well...

Julia and I were asked to come speak about m/m fiction many years ago (when everyone pretended that m/m fiction didn’t exist and couldn’t you psychos PLEASE not attend cons or at least lie about what you do). If you’ve ever heard me speak publicly, you know I’m loud.

And big.

And I wave my arms a lot.

And I sort of… explode in pure Texan I might be scared but you’ll never know it-ness.

Well, sure. I was faced with a room full of, "OMG, you write what?", so I was bad. Worse than ever. So fucking intimidated I was going to shit myself and? JADE LEE WAS THERE.

*sweats*

I gathered up my big girl panties. I talked and hooted and rednecked and genuinely made myself unignorable (is that a word?).

Then, as I get up to leave, Ms. Lee looked at my Julia and says, "She has great boobs."

So, second claim to fame? Jade Lee admired my boobs.

:D

So, go read. White Tigress was the first one I read, so it’s in my heart book library.

I still am very grr Dallas and grr ice.

My sister did make it home, finally. Yay.

I missed EVERYONE.

Six Sentence Sunday -- Cat in a China Shop (WIP, M/M)

"Just stop it. I’m sorry, Clay. I’m so sorry about everything.” He grabbed that too-thin wrist again. “Look at me.”

Those so-fucking-wrong eyes went wide and Clay arched, the scent of pure male hunger flooding the air.

Much love,

First, I’ve just signed my f/f assassin novella, Games Girls Play, with Ellora’s Cave. Next, I’m pondering f/f femdom, just because I can. ;-)

Authors I Love: Bronwyn Green

The first time I met Bronwyn was at Authors After Dark.

I have to tell y’all, she’s like joy made flesh. She was the very first person to speak to us, she made us feel welcome and happy. It wasn’t just me: she smiled at EVERYBODY.

And that was before we became friends.

She’s a good mom, she makes star babies and ceramics and knits and sews and… She understands the craft room addiction. She also has cats which I can appreciate from afar (I have the deadly allergic cat reaction).

Now, the books.

I have read almost all of the things. Almost. And what I love about them is that reading Bron’s books are like listening to her talk to you. She’s telling you a story, straight up and I love that. It makes me miss her more and less, all in the same breath.

http://www.bronwyngreen.com/Bronwyn_Green_-_Believe_in_the_Magic_of_Love.html

Go explore. I’ll wait.

:D

Much love, y’all.

So, the Coastal Magic Con sounded great...

…and we missed it.

Seriously.

It snowed three inches here, so we inched our way to the airport Thursday morning.

The 830am flight became a 1020am flight became a 1045am flight became a noon flight. Our connection is at 345. We now have 15 minutes to make it across DFW. We boarded at 1215, pulled back from the gate and stopped.

Just  stopped.

The captain comes on. "Guys, the Dallas airport is backed up. They have to deice the planes and by the time the planes are deiced, they need fuel. We’ll be waiting here for an hour."

Shit.

We call American. They can’t rebook us right now. Please call back.

115 comes and goes. The captain says, "Another 45 minutes."

We call the airline. There is one flight with 2 seats left, leaving at 10pm, getting us into Daytona at 2am, but they can’t book it until we’ve missed the connection.

130pm, we hear. "It’s going to be at least another 3 hours here. If you want off the flight, please let us know."

We get off the plane, put our baggage claim in, and hear, "All flights to Dallas have been cancelled."

*sighs*

No con for us.

Stupid Dallas.

Stupid ice.

Six Sentence Sunday -- Games Girls Play (f/f)

She walked over to the Bose, looking at it, then over his shoulder at the bodyguard. “Ayudame?”

He came over without a word, turned on the iPod, the music loud and driving, sudden, filling the air. Rose smiled at him in thanks, pulled a hair pin from her hair and tagged him, right through the trachea, then sent a second alongside, slicing the jugular with as little spray as possible. He blinked at her, blood bubbling on his lips, making not a sound as she eased him to the floor.

Now for the rest of her job.

;-)

Coming soon from Ellora’s Cave.

Much love, y’all.

Authors I Love: Sean Michael

*grins*

Okay, yes. I know, lots of people love SM, but me? I knew Sean when.

I’m the lucky bitch that gets to be the best friend, in real life. This year we’re going on 14 years, believe it or not. We’ve traveled together, cried together, been through some brutal shit and I can’t express how much Sean means to me.

As far as the books go, I probably love Bent the most, although I will always have an eternal adoration for Forged. And for the deep cut, I’d take Second Sight. :D Blind guy, you know.

I love how Sean loves writing, loves the characters, loves the way they use sex to talk to one another. I love how Sean was doing this before the rest and just keeps on writing the stories that make me want to read them, over and over. I love how Sean loves readers, cares about them and what they say.

More than anything, though, I love that I can message and say, "I need you", and the answer is always, "I’m calling now."

Sean’s huge fucking backlist can be found at http://www.seanmichaelwrites.com

Love you, babe.

Ah, the getting ready for a new con year

Where are the gift cards?

Where did the tablecloths get packed? Do they need washing?

Where did we put the reader gift we found in November?

Shit, I forgot both the suitcases were broken. Can we order new suitcases? Now?

Where are my t-shirts?

What do you mean it’s going to be 80 degrees in Florida?

Did I mend the hole in my Star Wars pants?

Where the hell did the new slippers go?

No, I didn’t get us into the beauty salon. We’ll have to be gray and shaggy. Amy and Kiernan will still love us.

No, you can’t sleep in your author shirt for six months and then wear it for a con. Put it back.

Did you email the house sitter?

Much love, y’all.

Six Sentence Sunday from The Terms of Release (m/m, coming this spring!)

Wilma nodded. “They were going to rob us, rape us. Thank God I had my bat in the car.”

If he wasn’t queer as a three-dollar bill and Wilma was twenty years younger or not married to the biggest baddest biker in eight counties who was working at being the best friend he’d ever had, Sage might have fallen in love with her, right then. Boom.

Much love, y'all
